Perched high above the valley floor, Greywacke vineyards sits on the eastern shoulder of
Black Mountain where the Russian River finally turns west towards the Pacific
after it's long journey south. Located in the Russian River AVA, Greywacke's neighbors
are wineries like Gary Farrell, MacMurray Ranch, Porter Creek, William Seylem
and Timbervine Vineyard all of which are known for their excellent Pinot Noirs.
Greywacke is unusually high for a vineyard in Russian River at about 700' of elevation. Greywacke also has unusually steep terrain on its hills. Greywacke is also has unusual soil
composition for Russian River. Instead of the typical Goldridge soils, Greywacke is made up of Fractured Franciscans and Greenstone and Greywacke complexes.
