These varieties were chosen because they are well
suited to our site and because at the time of planting they were all exciting new clones intended
to bring new flavors and character to Sonoma County wines (with the
venerable exception of the Estrella River clone and our Petite Sirah).
Given Grenache's history in California, it may seem
like an odd selectin, but by selecting two exciting new French clones
of Grenache for our vineyard, we bring fruit capable of making the
great Grenaches of Chateau nuef du Pape. Half of the Grenache is ENTAV
certified clone 513. The other half is from Tablas Creek. We are among
the first vineyards in Sonoma County to plant these clones and are
very excited about the potential of this fruit both blended with our
Syrah and as a wine on its own.
Roussanne, a white grape with tremendous potential
as a varietal, is a wine for which we have a particular love and passion.
We have two exciting new clones of "true" Roussanne that
are new to Sonoma County. Half our Roussanne is an ENTAV clone and
the other half is sourced from Tablas Creek.
