How is the Vineyard Laid Out?

Our topography varies from gentle to steep, almost none of the vineyard is truly “flat”. Topographic maps of the vineyard are available on request, but the only real way to appreciate the site is to visit.

The soils are Goulding and Toomes clay loam and cobbly clay loam. These are upland soils originally formed by geologic upheavals of neighboring Bennett, Taylor and Sonoma Mountains.

Because of the soil's high water holding capacity, predominately 101-14 and a little 3309 were selected as rootstock material. Spacing is 5’x7’ everywhere. Trellising is all VSP.
