1999 - purchased Dry Stack Vineyard
2000 - existing 15 acre vineyard removed. 20 acres cleared, graded, amended,
ripped and drainage installed. soil was amended with nutrients and compost and then a vigorous cover crop was sown
2001 - Vineyard planted to Syrah, Grenache, Rousanne, Sauvignon Blanc and Petite Sirah.
2002 - Fertilized and watered heaviliy
to support the young vines. All fruit was dropped. We tried several
different methods of weed control including hoeing, tilling, vine row mowing, flaming,
and vinegar with little success.
2003 - Partial crop. We
sold our 20 acres of grapes to 9 different wineries. We went to a lot of effort to get grape
quality as high and as consistent as possible.
2004 - First nearly full harvest. We had a great growing season, our yields were low becuase our vineyard was young but we delivered outstanding fruit to our clients. We
sold to 6 different clients in 2004 and several outstanding wines were produced.
2005 was one of the coolest growing seasons in history, late rains in Spring right through flowering and set made things difficult and then a historically cold summer carried
our harvest to November 2nd. We dropped crop in 4 different passes until we were near 2.5 tons to the acre. We made no money, but the fruit quality was excellent. We also harvested our
first grapes for Grey Stack Cellars.
2006 a protracted, wet spring delayed push and flowering, but warm weathered follow and we had another great year. Grafted 0.8 acres of Sauvignon Blanc to Viognier in support
of our Rhone themed wine brand.
2007 - Another cool year. Sold grapes to 11 different wineries.
2008 - A warm warm. 'Ungrafted' the Viognier back to Sauvignon Blanc,
2009 - A warm year with a historically large storm in mid October. Grafted 2 acres of Syrah 470 to Pinot.
2010 - Grafted 2 acres of Estrella River Syrah to Sauvignon Blanc, grafted final acre of 470 and Petite Sirah to Pinot.
